No matter what a photographer is witness to, there is still so much beauty.
Photojournalism Although the word is overused I believe that an image, or series of images, can inform across cross cultural or international boundaries, elucidate, and sometime provoke emotion or even action. I do not want to wave my personal political flag but to witness, and through images raise the curiosity, emotion, and caring that I think is the best part of all people
Equipment Whether taken with the latest example of technology or with the cheapest pocket camera, an image is a composition, a moment, and an exposure. Equipment is chosen according to the conditions and the end use requirements. I am interested in photographs, the content and the emotion, far more than brand names and techno-babble.
Manipulation All images must remain an honest representation of what was photographed and as such only moderate use of cropping, saturation etc, and occasionally traditional techniques such as dodge and burn are used. No image has anything cut, cloned, pasted, airbrushed, or invented. Where images are from scanned film dust and scratches may be removed if this does not alter the original image. While manipulation may be acceptable to art or advertising images, all of my images were taken for editorial use and as such I prefer a less than perfect image that is a truthful representation.
Projects Although I am presently developing future projects, I welcome suggestions or assignments.
